Your questions, answered
What is the Precision Fill?
The Precision Fill is a floor-standing weigh-and-fill packaging machine for coffee roasteries. It automatically doses bags to a set target weight — from 10g up to 3.8 kg (1oz – 8lbs) — at up to 18 bag per minute, so one operator can pack retail and wholesale bags without hand-weighing.
What’s the Precision Fill’s durability like?
Precision Fill has been in use since 2019 with minimal maintenance reports. SOVDA leverages existing industrial supply chains to acquire over-build components at an affordable price point. Most parts in the Precision Fill never come close to their maximum operating ranges and, as a result, provide incredible durability. Replacement parts are available through SOVDA and can often be sourced locally for minimal downtime.
How cost-effective is Precision Fill?
Generally, Precision Fill will cut your filling time slightly more than in half compared to hand filling. One specific customer cut down three hours of projected production time to 30 minutes as a team. This means payback for most clients in four to 12 months, depending on volume and labor costs.
What bag sizes and weights can the Precision Fill handle?
It fills any weight from 20g to 3,800g (1oz to 8lbs) — sample sachets through wholesale bags. The standard stainless-steel filler head fits most 250 g (10 oz) bags and delivers up to 4 kg at high flow rates; custom filler heads are available for unusual packaging.
What’s the lead time?
Generally, the lead time from order purchase to delivery is about 100 days. This includes production and shipping times without additional equipment. However, customized paint jobs or items can increase lead times.
Can the Precision Fill weigh ground coffee?
No — the Precision Fill fills whole-bean roasted coffee, not ground. Packing ground coffee well takes fundamentally different engineering, so machines that do both compromise on each. SOVDA optimized the Precision Fill for whole beans, done exceptionally, not everything adequately.
In practice, many roasters keep a grinder beside it and run a simple weigh, grind, fill workflow.
How can I customize my Precision Fill?
We have limited customization options, including colors, larger hopper extensions and interchangeable filler heads. Please reach out to your Technical Brand Ambassador or Distributor for more information.
How fast is the Precision Fill?
Fast enough that you'll never wait on it — the moment you have a bag ready, so does the Precision Fill. For the specifics: it packs up to 18 bags per minute. But the number that matters is that the machine is always quicker than you are: Quick Fill technology drops the bulk of the portion instantly and feathers in the last few beans, so you set the pace and the Precision Fill is ready before you are.
How accurate is the Precision Fill?
The Precision Fill fills to your target weight consistently to tolerance of +/- 1g, bag after bag, using Quick Fill's two-stage dosing (bulk drop plus a feathered finish)
How does Precision Fill compare to the original Precision Fill Mini?
Precision Fill or Precision Fill Mini — which should I choose? Choose the Precision Fill if you're packing higher volume - roughly 16+ kg of roasted coffee per batch. Choose the Precision Fill Mini for smaller operations — up to 15 kg per run, in a footprint that fits any bench. Both use the same core weigh-fill technology; the difference is capacity and footprint.
