You decide what makes the cut

Pearl Mini scans every bean and rejects only what's truly defective, and only what you tell it to reject.
Most of our customers reject 0,5-2% depending on the coffee, not 20%.

You keep more good coffee and remove what would have slipped through.

Color options

Speed

250 kg/h roasted, 500 kg/h green. Built for roasters running 15–70kg machines — with room to grow.

Precision

Calibrated at your roastery, not a factory floor. That's why most SOVDA roasters reject 1-2% of their coffee, not 20%.

Designed for Roasters

You set the threshold. Pearl Mini executes it — consistently, across every batch.

99.95%

Two high-speed cameras inspect every single bean. What gets through is what you chose to keep.

Scalable Speed

Start at your current volume. The machine won't hold you back when you scale.

Unbeatable Sourcing

Buy the coffees other roasters have to pass on — naturals, experimentals, riskier lots. Pearl Mini has your back.

Your Pearl Mini questions, answered

Does the Pearl Mini Color Sorter replace a Destoner?

No. The Pearl Mini is optical — it catches visual defects like quakers, burnt beans, and light patio stones. A density-based destoner catches heavy stones. They work best together, which is why SOVDA offers the Destoner Lift as a paired setup.

What does the Pearl Mini do?

The Pearl Mini is an optical color sorter for specialty coffee roasteries. It scans every bean with two high-speed cameras and uses air jets to eject defects — quakers, burnt beans, insect and water damage, and light stones — from either green or roasted coffee, so what ends up in the bag is only what you chose to keep.

How fast is the Pearl Mini?

The Pearl Mini is built to grow with you. It sorts up to 250 kg/hr (~550 lb/hr) and keeps pace with roasters up to 70 kg, so it's a buy-once machine: you won't have to replace your color sorter as your roastery scales.

What defects can the Pearl Mini remove?

The Pearl Mini  Color Sorter removes visual defects that density sorting misses: quakers, burnt beans, patio stones too light for a destoner, and — on green coffee — insect damage, water damage, and common defects like sours and blacks. Because it sorts by sight (color and shape) rather than weight, it catches defects a destoner physically can't.

What power and utilities does the Pearl Mini need?

In North America, it runs on a standard 120 V, 60 Hz single-phase outlet (a transformer is supplied to boost to 220 V); the global version runs on 220 V, 50/60 Hz single-phase. It also needs compressed air of at least 0.04 m³/min at 0.4–0.6 MPa (about 1.2 CFM at 60–90 psi) to drive the ejection valves.

Which roasters use the Pearl Mini?

Famous Roasteries including Tim Wendelboe, Onyx, DAK, Black & White, Koppi, Optimist Coffee, Cycle Roasters, Coffee Collective, SEY, Philocoffea, Alchemist, Blue Bottle, and Verve run the Pearl Mini as part of their quality workflow.

How much does a Pearl Mini Coffee Color Sorter cost?

Most roasteries invest $35,000–$55,000 for a complete sorting solution, depending on configuration and whether you add a Destoner Lift. That includes on-site calibration, training, and specialty-grade support — not just a machine.

Cheaper import sorters are built for commodity throughput, not specialty quality. The Pearl Mini is dialed in to your coffee and rejects only what you ask it to reject, not 20%, so it pays for itself in the good coffee you stop throwing away.

One Line. Every Step.

Sort. Lift. Blend. Pack.

SOVDA equipment is designed to connect — not just coexist. When each step feeds the next, your roastery runs cleaner, faster, and more consistently.

Why a connected SOVDA line matters:

  • No bottlenecks — each machine feeds the next
  • Same standard across every step, same consistency in every bag
  • Less manual handling, safer workflows
  • Smaller footprint when systems are designed to fit together
  • Add machines when you're ready — the line grows with you
